Account status codes

Metro 2 account status code 80: 90 to 119 days past due

What code 80 means

The account is three payments behind: at least 90 but fewer than 120 days past the due date as of this update. Many lenders treat 90 days as a serious delinquency, and some begin moving accounts toward collections, charge-off or, on a mortgage, foreclosure steps around this point.

How it shows on your report

"90 days late" or "Past due 90," with a 90 in that month's box.

How it affects your score

Late payments are among the most damaging items in payment history. FICO looks at how late, how recent and how many, so each step further behind generally hurts more. No one can tell you an exact point drop.

What to check

A delinquency can only age about 30 days per month, so this status should follow a 60-day status in the month before, not a current month. Compare the amount past due to your missed payments: at this stage it should roughly equal three missed payments. If you paid within 30 days of the due date that month, the late shouldn't be there at all.
