Metro 2 account status code 61: paid in full, was a voluntary surrender
You gave the collateral back, usually a vehicle, because you couldn't keep up with the payments, and the remaining debt has since been paid in full. The status keeps the surrender in the record while showing nothing more is owed. That's different from status 95, which means the surrender happened and a balance may still be outstanding.
How it shows on your report
Something like "Paid, was voluntary surrender," with a $0 balance.
How it affects your score
Still a serious negative, because the surrender itself reflects a major default. Being paid can help how a lender reading the report sees it, and the item ages off on the normal schedule.
What to check
Balance and past due should be zero. Paying the debt does not restart the seven-year reporting clock, so the date of first delinquency should stay where it was. If a collector also reports the same deficiency as unpaid, the same debt may be counted twice.
