Metro 2 special comment code S: special handling
A general flag telling anyone reading the report to contact the lender for more information about the account. It doesn't say what the special situation is, so it can mean very different things from one lender to the next. Because it's vague, it's worth asking the furnisher what it refers to.
How it shows on your report
A remark like "Special handling, contact credit grantor."
How it affects your score
Not known to be scored directly, but it can prompt questions from a lender reviewing your file by hand.
What to check
Ask the furnisher what the flag refers to and get the answer in writing. If the situation it described has ended, ask that the remark be removed. If the lender can't explain why it's there, that's a reason to dispute it as inaccurate or incomplete.
