Metro 2 special comment code BP: paid through insurance
An insurance payout paid off the account, such as credit life insurance after a borrower's death or an insurance payout after a vehicle was totaled. Furnisher software allows it only with a paid status and a $0 balance. It shows how the debt ended, so it stays on the closed account.
How it shows on your report
A remark like "Paid through insurance."
How it affects your score
Neutral to positive. Earlier delinquency still counts.
What to check
Balance and past due should be $0 once the insurer paid. If a gap remained after the payout, check that it's reported as a balance owed and not as a new delinquency you didn't cause. Keep the insurer's payment letter as proof.
