Metro 2 ECOA code 2: joint
You and at least one other person signed for the account, and each of you is responsible for the full balance, not a share of it. The lender can collect the whole amount from either of you. Each joint borrower's report carries the same account with the same balance and payment history.
How it shows on your report
"Joint" or "Joint account" in the responsibility line.
How it affects your score
Counts fully on each joint holder's file, including late payments the other person caused.
What to check
Each joint holder's report should show the same balance, status and history. After a divorce, a court order assigning the debt to your ex doesn't change the lender's contract, so a joint account can be accurately reported on your file until it's refinanced or paid off.
